Serious thinking
OK so when I got home from school today, i actually had mail. suprise suprise.
well, not really. I'm in 7th grade and that's when all the stuff for the high schools start coming around. I go to a Catholic school so the Catholic high schools start sending brochures (gosh i can't spell that word...) aroud.
I've gotten one from:
- Rosary (that im SO not going to. all girls school. YUCKKK)
- Benet
- St. Francis
I really really like Benet and St. Francis... but I haven't gotten much info from benet. it was just like a postcard advertising for a shadow visit. and I'm like... well what d'ya got there?
St. Francis looks really cool... they have a lot of great clubs and teams. I'm not a sporty person, but they have a dance team that looks really interesting. Tennis, too. Then there's Culinary Club, Drama Club, Photography Club, Yearbook, Chess Club (yeah, chess is SO bad-ass), Newspaper, Kairos Retreat Program... ughhh too many things that are interesting =P
As for the classes, the ones that look interesting to me are Web Design & Development, Honors English, Creative Writing, French, math sucks, of course, but I suppose since I want to do science i'd take like algebra or something, almost ALL the Performing and Fine Arts section, Biology, Conceptual Physics, Psychology, Criminology (which would SO help with my FBI plan XD), and i'd have to take the religion course. there's like tons more to choose from too... it's supposed to be really good because it's "College Preperatory". it also says here that a lot of their students end up in colleges like Yale or Harvard... Eh, I want Oxford or Uni. Of London. and then i'll come back to new york and go to art school. I have a lot more schooling ahead of me, but I'm actually looking forward to it. Wow, I'm a kid who actually doesn't hate school! =P.
The only thing that sucks is that you have to take an entrance exam and half of it's math. and i SUCK at math. You need like an 80-something or higher to get in. I usually fail math tests... well, then i always have benet. But that's pretty much the same kind of test.... ugh maybe I should just go to public high school.
"Demonstrated potential for success is arrived at by considering a combination of the following factors:
- Performance on the High School Entrance Exam.
- Academic ability demostrated at the elementary school leve. (based on review of seventh grade report card) ((which means this year is REALLY important for me.))
- Ability to contribute to the community life of a Catholic high school.
- Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis High School
- Child of a St. Francis High School graduate
- Sibling of a current or graduated St Francis student."
... I really hope you don't need to be one of the last 2, cuz i'm neither. I don't think you do.. but I know they like tack on points if you are. Grrr... that's not very Catholic is it? unequality. What about us first borns with parents that went to public schools?! *sigh* Small schools suck that way... but you get mor attention from teachers. Gotta deal with it I guess.
Benet's campus though is AWESOME! They're connected to Benedictine University, and the school looks like a castle! its so cool. but I don't know what they have there so I can't make my decision yet. Oh well, I think i'm just going to apply for both and then see which one accepts me. If they both do, then that's a problem. But I'm not going to worry about it until that time comes.
So yeahhhh that was long... but I just needed to blog about it to get it out of my head =P.
